We are delighted to announce the release of our third album.
‘The Effervescent Travellers’ will be released digitally on all download/streaming platforms on 14th August.
The track list is as follows
1.) High Rise
2.) Extreme Push Cycle Race
3.) Sur La Dordogne
4.) The Almighty Faff
5.) Mont Blanc
6.) Fred’s Motorhome Extravaganza
7.) Kinky Joe’s Steamboat trip down the River Taff
As can be suggested from the titles, the theme of the album is all about travel in the most vibrant and enthusiastic sense of the word, either inspired from experiences we’ve had or silly scenarios we came up with in our heads!
We look forward to sharing the full album with you. Additionally, we have a live set all ready to go as soon as shows are allowed to start happening again. Once we are on the road we will also be announcing the release of the physical version of the album.
In the meantime, you can expect to see livestream performances of the new songs after they are released.
Below is a video of the three of us playing through the new track in different locations.
Here is a little information from Ryan about the song
‘High Rise came from a guitar riff I had when I was something like 14 years old. It’s taken about 13 years for me to do something with it and being surrounded by massive skyscrapers in Dubai gave me the inspiration for the title and to finish writing the song. In essence, I wanted the technical scope of what we are doing musically to be reminiscent of some of the amazing post-modern architecture that is appearing in cities, it was great fun putting this together and I cannot wait to do it live when we are able to play live again!’
Here are the credits for ‘High Rise’
Ryan Elliott – Guitars, Moog
Jonathan Griffiths – Drums
Mathew Griffiths – Bass Guitar
Recording and Mixing Engineer – Andrew Bishop
Mastering Engineer – Steffan Pringle
Artwork – Dale Johnson
We look forward to sharing the rest of the album with you.
It was no doubt a stuttered year for so many artists. Lock down was very much in place for the majority of the year but despite all of that we are grateful for the opportunities we had to get some things done.
One of the biggest highlights for us as a band was our livestream performance. It was a joy to share a live performance in the midst of lockdown.
Then we took that show live to an audience in our hometown in Cardiff and I think it is the best we have ever played. The relief to play in front of an audience again was huge and the entire night was an exhilarating experience that we can’t wait to do again! Despite living in a digital age, nothing can replace the quality of being in a live performance space with an audience.
We recorded the audio from the desk and will be putting a selection of the tracks on our soundcloud soon.
The plan going forward. We have a full set ready to go and ready to take it out, live shows tbc. We are also writing loads of new material and planning another live video as well, so plenty of things are in place for us as a band in 2022. Unfortunately, the virus is running amok again and disrupting Christmas for many. Our thoughts to anyone reading this who has been affected.
We wish everyone health and peace of mind going forward. Nadolig Llawen.
We returned to the live scene last Friday with a hometown headline show at Clwb Ifor Bach.
We could not have asked for a more enthusiastic and supportive audience and we were quite literally overwhelmed by the support of those who came along.
It is very much on our agenda to plan future shows around different regions in the U.K. and you can follow us here to keep up to date as we announce them.
In the meantime, here are some photos courtesy of Adam Prosser as well as the set list from the gig. Our encore was ‘Stomp Foot Syndrome’.
A big thank you to our support acts, King Curelean and Tobias Robertson, and Andrew Bishop for doing the sound for the evening.
Announcing our first support act. Tobias Robertson will be playing an acoustic solo set, and will be gracing you with his wonderful voice before our instrumental shenanigans.
Announcing our second act, King CeruleanWe met some of the members at a jam night and these boys can groove! They will be bringing the funk to our evening at Clwb Ifor Bach.
We are thrilled to share with you the news that we will be doing a live premier for our ‘Kinky Wizzards – Live at Ratio Studios’ on Thursday 24th June.
After being unable to play live for such a long period of time, it was an absolute joy to get into a space together to record a live set that we can share with you. It’s the next best thing to us being in an actual venue together during these times.
The set was recorded through once, so the footage is a real and raw live performance…no corrections, no overdubs, nada!
The video will be available to watch for free from YouTube and Vimeo (links will be posted here) but we would like to point you in the direction of ways you can support us and causes we are behind.
2. If you also enjoyed the set and want to help us in our next musical endeavours you can also buy us a coffee over at https://ko-fi.com/kwriffmiffjiff3
3. This last year and a half has impacted so many people in a negative way and we want to use this event as an opportunity to encourage donations to charity organisations who are doing good work to help those in need. Here are some useful links.
I thought it would be a good idea to put together a score of one of our tunes from the latest album.
It took me absolutely ages to put this together and figuring what the hell the brothers were doing let alone myself in written notation was a head spinner! There are probably some discrepancies here and there, and the drums especially are more of a guide as there’s an improvisatory nature to them. I also provided a brass arrangement for a trio of horns that feature as well. It was however very rewarding to see the music in written form and I though I’d share it with you.
There is something very aesthetically pleasing about it and I may put together a book with all of the tracks notated one day.
